I love taking my family on gold prospecting trips at an undisclosed place in California.
I have three kids, Josh who’s 12, Samantha who’s 14 and Ryan who’s 9, so I have allot of preparing to do before out prospecting trip. My wife Lisa and I usually spend months preparing everything that is needed, getting the small RV ready and all the prevision we will need. The kids just love the trip, they actually love the outdoors and to them it’s a great adventure to find gold.
This gold prospecting piece of land is a claim I set up with and have full rights to spend as much time on it as like. Having your own claim to find gold is great because you don’t have to worry about anyone else being on my spots and I can rest easy knowing I’m legally able to go there. It took me awhile for me to get the claim approved; you have to go through some paper work but are worth the trouble because it usually has great gold.
My claim is about 4 hours from where we live and we take about a week on these trips. We have a medium size RV that does really bad on gas and tow a smaller car to go up town and get additional items we need. This place is somewhat remote but close enough you can get to a hospital or store if you really need to. We usually do pretty good preparing beforehand but always forget something or have something break and we need to get to a store.
My family and I have been going to this spot for a couple years now, I have just started to get into prospecting as my main hobby and my family usually is there with me or hiking, biking, or just enjoys the great outdoors. My whole family contributes to the trip, help in preparing all what we need, make sure all our previsions are set, and I make sure all my gold prospecting equipment is up to the trip. I take gold pans, sluices, and my favorite is the Gold Banker which can go through the most material. The kids usually help my load the material in the Mini Banker or take off on their own to use the pans and sluices.
The amount of gold we find does pay for half our trip but not all of it, but it’s the experience and spending time with your wife and kids makes it priceless. Spending time with my kids as they are getting older and will be off to college is something I cherish while it last. I hope even when they are grown up and move out they will remember these trips and if they have kids show them the great outdoors and gold prospecting.
I look forward to these our prospecting trips every year and feel it’s the best way to spend time with your wife and kids in the greater outdoors, finding treasure or just sitting around the campfire getting caught up with the latest current events in our lives. Sometimes I lives get so busy we missed something that has happen, by the end of our trip I feel I’m closer than ever and know everything that has happen throughout the year.
