When my first child was three, I saw firsthand the importance of establishing a strong, predictable daily rhythm.  a regular routine can work wonders - behavior is improved, stress is reduced, learning is increased. 
Even though I knew these things to be true, I found I needed some visual reminder to keep me in a routine. 

So I created the first chart for my oldest son.  I wanted something that would be easy to change from day to day.  I wanted to use illustrations so that he, too, could "read" the chart and know what to expect each day.  I also wanted something simple, with pleasing colors that would fit in well with our living area.

Setting up our daily chart has now become a cherished morning ritual.  Over breakfast, we'll talk about the day and he will help me set the magnetic pieces in order.  I've found it has really helped him with transitions and it has helped me with focus.
